Marauder Women's Golf has advanced to the CCCAA State Finals for the first time in school history with a 2-day total score of 736 at Regionals. AVC will join Saddleback College, College of the Desert, and Orange Coast College to represent Southern California in next week's finals.
The Marauders played well at Sundale Golf Club in Bakersfield amid 50-degree temperatures and cloudy conditions. The long course was 5700 yards in length and had water in play on the four finishing holes, which presented many challenges for the best golfers in the Southern California region.
Arlene Salvador finished 2nd overall in Individuals with a two-day total of 150. "Arlene battled hard and positively responded to adversity at every opportunity... I'm so proud of how she and the team competed when needed most," said head coach Patrick Londono. Arlene is the first medalist at Southern California Regionals for Antelope Valley College in school history.
Madison Shafer finished with a two-day total of 176. Adrianna Rosales shot a 91 on Saturday for her best round of the season at the most opportune time.
Ayanna Longdale shot a personal best on Monday, bettering her score from the day before by 10 shots. Jasmine Carrilo also improved her score on Sunday by four shots, also a season-best round.
"This team continues to exceed expectations while maintaining a will to improve. It's difficult to put into words how proud I am of this group," remarked Londono.
The CCCAA State Championships will be played at Cypress Ridge Golf Club in Arroyo Grande next Sunday.
