Women's Golf shot a first-place 341 at WSC Match #7 to clinch the conference championship with an undefeated 35-0 regular-season record.
The Marauders battled the executive course at El Cariso in Sylmar, which has no par 5's but included several par 3's with a distance of over 180 yards, with one measuring 220 yards.
Arlene Faye Salvador shot a 65, three over par, which was good enough to win individually by eight shots. Her round was highlighted by a 50-foot putt which she sank on the back nine. "Arlene had a different level of focus today, and it showed. She has now proven that she is the best individual player in our conference, and I'm proud of her hard work to attain that status," said head coach Patrick Londono.
Madison Schafer also had a strong round with a 79 to finish fourth in individuals. Adrianna Rosales and Vashti Rachal contributed a 98 and 99, while Ayanna Langdale shot her lowest score of the season. "This group is special... adversity brings them closer together, inspiring them to work harder to overcome whatever necessary," commented Londono.
College of the Canyons, the event host, finished second (364), while Citrus finished third with a 372. Bakersfield came in fourth, Santa Barbara fifth, and Moorpark sixth.
The Marauders will now move to the post-season with the Western State Conference Invitational on Oct. 25.
