AVC Women's Basketball lost a conference game 69-59 to College of the Canyons at home on Saturday.
AVC finished shooting just over 31% from the field compared to 38% from the Cougars. Canyons had a 3-point lead at halftime, but the Marauders came back to take the lead (46-44) in the third quarter behind five 3-point buckets from Kristen Lopez. Lopez finished with seven 3-pointers and a team-high 22 points to go along with 6 rebounds. The performance was also a season-best for the sophomore guard from Lancaster High School.
Mircle Jackson recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Courtney Hart had 14 points and 8 rebounds, while Bailey Cassell had a game-high 7 assists. Cassell leads the Marauders in assists on the season with 43. Freshman Allysa Taylor contributed 9 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists.
Antelope Valley will continue conference play at Bakersfield before returning home to face the Citrus Owls on Saturday, 1/21, at 5:00m pm.
