AVC Women's Basketball beat Citrus 65-40 at home on Wednesday as the Marauders honored six sophomores.
Before the game began, Kianna Cross, Malaiya Patton, Andrea Cruz, Fiona Ferry, Sara Navarro, and Dejana Williams were all honored as they played their last home game at Antelope Valley College.
Kianna Cross played two seasons at AVC and totaled 324 points along with 169 rebounds and 70 assists.
Andrea Cruz accumulated 52 steals, 72 assists, 112 rebounds, and 128 points while playing over 1,100 minutes for the Marauders.
Sara Navarro finishes her career with AVC, having played over 1,300 minutes on the court. She scored 319 points along with 108 rebounds, 106 assists, and 42 steals.
Malaiya Patton averaged 23.9 minutes per game in her two seasons as a Marauder. She contributed a total of 388 points, 66 steals, 64 assists, and 201 rebounds in 51 games.
Fiona Ferry scored 288 points and grabbed 130 rebounds to go along with 89 assists in 53 games.
Dejana Williams played in 35 games at AVC and scored 117 points. She gathered 122 rebounds and had 18 steals.
The six sophomores will look to add to their totals with one regular-season game left, as well as in the playoffs.
Once the sophomore festivities were over, the Marauders came ready to play. They outscored the Owls 10-8 in the first period, and 18-11 in the second period to have a 9-point lead at the half. Antelope Valley kept the offensive firepower going as they had a 21-point 4th quarter while holding Citrus to 7 points. They again outscored the Owls in the final period 16-14. The Marauders finished shooting 24-67 from the field while limiting the Owls to 13 buckets on 60 attempts.
Kianna Cross led AVC with 15 points and 13 rebounds to go along with 5 steals and 5 assists. Malaiya Patton scored 14 points and had 5 assists. Sara Navarro and Sienna Rodriguez each had 10 points as Rodriguez also chipped in 9 rebounds. Niyah Page had 7 points and 6 rebounds, while Dejana Williams had 13 rebounds and 4 points.
The Marauders will be on the road on Friday as they take on LA Valley College in their last regular-season game.
