Freshman Niyah Page had another big game as she led AVC Women's Basketball to their fifth win in the last six games.
Both teams started off sluggish with a combined 16-point first quarter as the Monarchs led 9-7. LA Valley picked up the pace in the second period outscoring the Marauders 15-9 to lead by four at the half.
The Monarchs would own the third quarter as well with a 24-19 advantage, giving them a 9-point lead heading into the 4th quarter. Antelope Valley would erase that deficit in the 4th quarter, led by Niyah Page's and Kianna Cross, who both had 6 points in the period. But it was Sara Navarro who would score the biggest shot of the game when she nailed a 3-pointer with :02 left to play, sending the game into overtime.
Page took over again, scoring 7 points in the bonus period. She finished with a game-high 30 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, her 11th double-double of the season. Kianna Cross finished with 16 points and 5 rebounds, while Eriona Williams added 12 points and 5 rebounds. Sarah Navarro and Andrea Cruz both had 4 assists while Navarro added 8 points.
AVC shot 40.0% from the field, 30.0% from 3-point range, and 78.6% from the free-throw line.
The Marauders will travel to College of the Canyons and West A College before returning home to battle the Santa Monica on February 8th.
