LANCASTER - The Marauder women's basketball team struggled in the second quarter and lost a tough game to first place College of the Canyons, 70-58, Wednesday night.
AVC was led by Destini Price who finished with 20 points and seven rebounds, while Shekinah Broadway had 14 points and Jasmine Hayes continued to rebound the ball well finishing with 12 on the night.
The Marauders only trailed 13-11 following the first quarter but were outscored 22-8 in the second and trailed 35-19 at halftime.
AVC had no answer for COC's Hannah Green who led her team with 29 points and 14 rebounds on 12-of-23 shooting. Teammate Monica Friedl had 19 points and nine rebounds.
The Marauders dropped to 4-3 in the Western States Conference-South Division, trailing three games by division leader COC which is 7-0.
