Antelope Valley College Softball recorded a 10-1 non-conference win over the Compton College Tartars. Their 23rd win of the season followed a 7-2 conference loss to College of the Canyons a day before. The loss to Canyons was just their 6th of the season but was highlighted by a couple of home runs by Marissa Rodriguez.
In the 6-inning win over Compton, the Marauders scored their 10 runs off 11 hits with 2 errors on the day. Marley Delgado went 2-for-3 at the plate with 2 RBI, which included her 9th home run of the season. Her home run total ranks tied for 2nd on the 3C2A State leaderboard, and she currently leads the Western State Conference in RBI with 39. Hartley Lundquist, Kaili York, and Kaylee Moreno each had 2 RBI and a hit, while Marissa Rodriguez added an RBI and a hit.
Mia Romero went 2-for-3, while Jolene Miramontes, Kieran Valencia, and Analise Memory added hits, with Miramontes and Romero scoring twice each.
Payton Marlin went the distance in the circle with 4 strikeouts for her 13th win of the season. The Freshman from Quartz Hill High School ranks 2nd in the Western State-South Conference in wins, strikeouts (83), and ERA (3.30).
The Marauders are 23-6 overall and 5-2 (3rd) in conference play. They next play Glendale at home on Tuesday, 4/1 at 2:30 pm.
