Antelope Valley College Softball scored a 7-0 Western State South Conference win over the Citrus Owls. AVC had 12 hits and no errors on the day.
Jolene Miramontes held the Owls to just 3 hits and no runs in 7 innings. The sophomore from Coachella, CA, threw 54 of 77 (70%) pitches for strikes with just one walk in her 10th win of the season. She helped her own cause by going 3-for-3 with 3 RBI, including a home run at the plate.
Jeannette Camarena also went 3-for-3 and scored twice, while Kaili York went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI. Natalia Hernandez recorded an RBI, going 2-for-2, and Mia Romero had a hit and an RBI. Tenley Puett also recorded a hit in the win. AVC currently ranks 7th in the 3CFCA Soth Coaches Poll and 13th in their State Coaches Poll.
The win brings the Marauders to a 21-5 record overall and 4-1 in conference. They will face LA Mission (8-16, 3-2 in conference) next in an important conference battle on Thursday at 2:30 pm at AVC.
