Marauder Softball won both games of a doubleheader against the Moorpark College Raiders 13-5 and 11-10.
After falling behind 4-2 in the first few innings, AVC had an explosive 7-run 4th inning to take a 7-5 lead. The Marauders followed up with four more runs in the 5th inning to secure the mercy win. Natalia Hernandez, Marley Delgado, and Analise Memory all homered in the contest. Hernandez finished 4-for-4 with 1 RBI, Delgado finished 2-for-4 with 3 RBI, and Memory finished 4-for-4 with 2 RBI. Kaili York had 2 hits and an RBI, while Jolene Miramontes went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI.
Miramontes went the distance in the circle, throwing 61 of 99 pitches for strikes with 8 Ks in 5 innings.
In game 2, the Raiders again took an early lead as the Marauders trailed 8-5 after two innings. AVC climbed back with 2 runs in the 3rd inning and 3 runs in the 5th inning, tied the game at 10-10. After a scoreless 6th inning, the Marauders secured the walk-off run with a Hartley Lundquist single to score Kieran Valencia. Lundquist finished 4-for-5 with 4 RBI. Natalia Hernandez hit her second home run of the day, a deep 2-RBI shot to left-center field.
Payton Marlin faced 40 batters in the circle with 82 of 129 pitches for strikes and 3 ks through 7 innings.
As a team, the Marauders currently rank No. 1 in the state in home runs with 15, RBI with 95, team batting average at .429, on-base percentage at .538%, and slugging percentage at .755%. Analise Memory leads the Western State-South Conference in batting average at .632, followed by Natalia Hernandez at .560.
Marley Delgado leads the state in RBI with 19 and ranks tied for 3rd in home runs with 4 on the season. Kaili York and Jeannette Camarena also ranked in the top 5 in the conference in RBI, with 11 each.
