AVC Softball won their home opener 6-3 over the Victor Valley Rams on Thursday. The defending Western State Conference champions broke in their new turf field, scoring their 6 runs off 12 hits with 1 error.
In the 1st inning, Cadence Crampton hit an RBI double, followed by a 2-run homerun by Kylie Zinn. In the 2nd inning, freshman catcher Gianna Mancilla hit an RBI single, and Crampton hit her second RBI double to put the Marauders up 5-0. Crampton finished 3-for-4 with 3 RBI, and Mancilla ended 2-for-3 with 1 RBI.
Kylie Zinn added another run in the 4th inning. She finished 2-for-4 with 3 RBI. Natasha Arroyo had two hits and scored once, while Jayda Williams finished 2-for-3 and scored once.
In the circle, starter Jolene Miramontes (3), Annalise Wagner (2), and Helena Loera (5) combined for 10 strikeouts on the day. Loera leads AVC with 13 Ks on the season.
The Marauders are 3-1-1 and play Pasadena City College on Friday before traveling to Moorpark College for a doubleheader on Tuesday of next week.
