AVC Softball won both games (4-1, 7-5) in a non-conference doubleheader against Santa Barbara at home on Friday. The Marauders scored 4 runs off 6 hits with 1 error in Game 1 and 7 runs off 9 hits with 3 errors in Game 2.
Natasha Arroyo and Victoria Alcantar hit back-to-back home runs in both games, while Savannah Cervantes homered in Game 1 and Cadence Crampton homered in Game 2. Crampton finished with 4 RBI on the day, while Alcantar totaled 4 hits in 6 at-bats with 2 RBI. Arroyo finished with 3 hits and 2 RBI. Cervantes went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI while Alanna Hernandez (2), Maeyll Grimes, and Kylie Zinn also recorded hits.
Emmeliz Sera pitched a gem with no earned runs and 4 strikeouts in Game 1, and Annalise Wagner had 5 Ks in 6 innings of work in Game 2, while Madison Reiser had 1 strikeout in relief. Wagner leads the Marauders with 7 wins on the season in the circle.
The two wins put the Marauders at 16-11 overall as conference play resumes Tuesday with an important showdown against the Bakersfield Renegades. AVC (7-3) is second in the WSC-East standings behind the Renegades (6-1). Game time is 2:30 pm at AVC.
