AVC Softball swept Moorpark 5-2 and 9-4 in a doubleheader on Friday. In game one, the Marauders were led by Kylie Zinn, who went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI, and Cadence Crampton, who also had 2 RBI off 2 hits. Savannah Cervantes went 2-for-3 with a couple of doubles, while Alanna Hernandez recorded a hit and a stolen base. Starter Victoria Alcantar went the distance in the circle with an efficient 60 out of 80 pitches thrown for strikes and 6 strikeouts. Alcantar gave up only one hit and no earned runs.
The Raiders put up a stronger effort in game 2, jumping out to an early lead with 2 runs in the first inning. AVC responded in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single from Savannah Cervantes. The Marauders would score the next runs with a big 5-run inning in the third. It was Cervantes again who started the rally with another RBI single. She finished 3-for-3 with 2 RBI. Cadence Crampton followed, scoring two runs with a triple. Annalise Wagner then extended the lead to 6-2 with a 2-RBI home run, her second of the season. The Marauders scored another run in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth with RBIs from Emily Centeno (sac), Madison Reiser (sac), and Alanna Hernandez (2B). Hernandez finished 2-for-2 with a double and a triple, while Natasha Arroyo (2) and Kylie Zinn also recorded hits.
Wagner pitched 4 innings with 2 strikeouts. Emmeliz Sera had 4 strikeouts, while she and Madison Reiser pitched just over an inning each.
The Marauders, winners of four straight, are now 9-7 overall and 2-1 in conference. They'll face Canyons (9-3) in a tough conference battle at home on Tuesday, 3/7, at 2:30 pm.
