AVC Softball lost a double-header 9-0 and 8-2 to the Palomar Comets at home on Friday. In game one, the Marauders managed 4 hits and had no errors. Natasha Arroyo, Cadence Crampton, Alanna Hernandez, and Bella Escobar all recorded hits, but AVC failed to turn any of them into runs as they had 3 left on base. Emmeliz Sera and Madison Reiser combined for 3 strikeouts but yielded 9 runs off 9 hits in the circle.
Antelope Valley's offense showed more life in game two with 2 runs off 8 hits. Both Alanna Hernandez (2nd inning) and Annalise Wagner (4th inning) recorded solo home runs to provide the two scores. Emily Centeno (2B) went 2-for-3, while Savannah Cervantes, Natasha Arroyo, Jayda Williams, and Maeyll Grimes (2B) recorded hits. Grimes also recorded her first stolen base of the season. Unfortunately, Palomar's bats also remained hot with 8 runs off 8 hits. Wagner had a solid effort in the circle throwing 59 of 98 pitches for strikes with 2 strikeouts and no earned runs on the day. But Antelope Valley's 5 errors may have been the difference maker on the day.
The Marauders fall to 5-7 overall and are 1-1 in conference play. Their schedule resumes with a home game against San Bernardino Valley on Tuesday, 2/21, at 2:30 pm.
