MARAUDERS ON ANOTHER 7-GAME WIN STREAK AFTER BEATING TAFT AND RIO HONDO

Antelope Valley Softball recorded a 13-5 win over Taft and a 5-3 win over Rio Hondo at home on Saturday. The two wins push AVC's win streak to seven games, their third such streak of the season.
Savannah Cervantes started the day off with a 3-run homer in the 1st inning against Taft. The Marauders then went on a run, scoring 6 in the 2nd inning. Cervantes recorded two more RBIs with a single, while Natalie Gomez and Nayely Delgado both added RBI singles. Hailey Johnson scored an unearned run, and Amy Manzo doubled to score Delgado.
Down 0-9 in the 3rd inning, Taft went on a run of their own, scoring 5 runs to get back in the game. AVC responded in the bottom of the inning when Ariel Nieto hit a sacrifice fly to score Victoria Alcantar, and Cervantes doubled to score Gomez. The Marauders then put the game away in the 5th inning with an unearned run and an RBI single from Alanna Hernandez. Emmeliz Sera (4) and Victoria Alcantar (3) combined for 7 K's in the circle. AVC totaled 12 hits with 3 errors. Savannah Cervantes finished 2-for-4 with 6 RBI, Ariel Nieto went 3-for-3, and Natalie Gomez went 2-for-3, both with 1 RBI.
Game two against Rio Hondo proved to be a tougher battle as the Roadrunners got on the board first with a run in the 1st inning. AVC evened it up in the 3rd inning when Ariel Nieto hit a solo blast to right-center field, her third home run of the season. Rio Hondo went up by a run again in the 4th inning, but the Marauders responded again when Trinity Holman scored on an inside-the-park home run. Tied 2-2, Antelope Valley took the lead in the 5th, with an RBI single from Amy Manzo. They pushed the lead to 5-2 in the 6th inning when Trinity Holman hit her team-leading 8th home run, and Hailey Johnson hit an RBI double to score Nieto.
The Roadrunners scored a run to pull within two in the final inning, but the Marauders got the game-ending out on a strikeout from Madison Reiser. Reiser finished with 9 Ks and only 2 earned runs off of 34 batters faced. Trinity Holman finished 2-for-2 with 2 RBI, while Amy Manzo and Hailey Johnson both finished 2-for-2 with 1 RBI. Ariel Nieto ended 2-for-4 with an RBI and scored twice. Nieto has scored a team-high 42 times this season.
AVC is now 23-8 and 7-1 in conference. They have another doubleheader on Tuesday, 4/12, at home against San Bernardino Valley.
