OFFENSE PUSHES MARAUDERS TO 11-3 WIN OVER GLENDALE
AVC Softball won their first conference matchup with an 11-3 victory over Glendale College at home.
AVC Softball won their first conference matchup with an 11-3 victory over Glendale College at home. The Marauders showed offensive consistency; scoring runs in five of the six innings played. They got out to an early lead with a three-run 1st inning, led by Nayely Delgado, who hit an RBI-single and stole home later in the inning. Amy Manzo also recorded an RBI with a sacrifice fly to score Savannah Cervantes.
Trinity Holman added to the lead in the 2nd inning with a solo blast to left-center field, her second home run of the season.
Antelope Valley took a 4-0 lead into the 3rd inning when Denise Carrillo hit a 2-RBI double. Trinity Holman then hit an RBI single to score Carrillo. Holman finished 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and scored once. Hailey Johnson made it 8-0 with a sacrifice fly to score pinch runner Jazlyn Sharpe. Sharpe has scored six times on the season.
Glendale made a push in the 5th inning, scoring three unearned runs. But AVC came right back in the 6th inning with three runs to close it out. Victoria Salas hit an RBI single and scored on a wild pitch, and Savannah Cervantes hit an RBI single. Cervantes finished 2-for-3 with an RBI. Ariel Nieto and Amy Manzo had a hit each, while Nieto also recorded an RBI.
Victoria Alcantar finished 2-for-3 at the plate and pitched four scoreless innings with 7 strikeouts. Madison Reiser had 5 strikeouts in 2 innings of relief.
The Marauders, with a 13-5 record overall, will continue conference play on Tues. 3/15 at home against LA Valley.
