SOFTBALL PICKS UP WINS AGAINST SANTA BARBARA AND MT. SAN JACINTO
Marauder Softball picked up a 5-0 win against the Santa Barbara Vaqueros and a 10-2 victory over the Mt. San Jacinto Eagles on Friday.

Marauder Softball picked up a 5-0 win against the Santa Barbara Vaqueros and a 10-2 victory over the Mt. San Jacinto Eagles on Friday.
Against the Vaqueros, AVC jumped out to the early lead with 3 runs in the 1st inning. Savannah Cervantes and Denise Carrillo recorded an RBI, and the Marauders also scored off an error.
AVC added two more runs in the 5th inning, one from another error and one from another RBI single by Carrillo. Carrillo finished 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. Hailey Johnson, Savannah Cervantes, Amy Manzo, Mycaela Chavez, and Alanna Hernandez all recorded hits.
Antelope Valley had a clean defensive game with no errors, compared to 4 errors for Santa Barbara. Madison Reiser was the winning pitcher for AVC, with 4 strikeouts in 4 innings. Victoria Alcantar also struck out 2 batters in 3 innings in the circle.
A couple of hours later, the Marauders continued to play well as they squared off against Mt. San Jacinto. AVC scored 10 unanswered runs in the first three innings. Two runs in 1st inning, three in the 2nd inning, and 5 in the 3rd. Savannah Cervantes had an RBI double and Nayely Delgado hit an RBI triple in the 1st. Cervantes, Natalie Gomez, and Hailey Johnson each hit RBI singles in the 2nd.
Leading by 5 runs, AVC then put the game out of reach with a 5-run inning in the 3rd. Natalie Gomez hit a 2-RBI shot scoring Victoria Alcantar and Trinity Holman. Ariel Nieto doubled to score Gomez. Hailey Johnson singled to bring Nieto home, and Cervantes recorded another RBI with a base hit. Cervantes finished 3-for3 with 3 RBI. Gomez also finished with 3 RBI, going 2-for-3. Johnson was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, while Nieto was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Holman and Alcantar both had a pair of hits, and Nayely Delgado ended with a hit and an RBI.
Emmeliz Sera went the distance in the circle striking out 5 of 20 batters faced. AVC is 11-5 and has a home matchup against Chaffey on Tuesday, 3/1, before a pair of games on the road against San Bernardino Valley.
