AVC Softball outlasted Fullerton College 5-4 in a tough battle at home on Thursday.
Fullerton jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning, but AVC scored three unearned runs in the 3rd inning to go up by two runs. Both Savannah Cervantes and Nayely Delgado recorded RBI's in the inning.
Up 3-1, the Marauders surrendered two runs in the 4th and one in the 5th inning to fall behind 3-4. In the bottom of the 6th inning, Amy Manzo got on base after hitting a shot to Fullerton's shortstop, who mishandled it. Trinity Holman then hit her first home run of the season, a two-run blast to put AVC up 5-4. Holman finished 1-for-3 with 2 RBI, and scored once. Emmeliz Sera, Victoria Alcantar, Denise Carrillo, and Amy Manzo all recorded hits.
Victoria Alcantar struck out 8 of 22 batters faced in five innings of work, while Madison Reiser had two strikeouts in relief.
The Marauders are now 8-3 and have a three-game road trip before returning home to face Santa Barbara on February 25.
