AVC Softball split a two-game series at home against the Moorpark Raiders, losing the first game 23-8 and winning game two 17-3.
Down four runs after the first inning, the Marauders battled to keep pace by matching the Raider's five runs in the second inning and three runs in the third inning. They were led by a 3-RBI home run from Savannah Moakley and a 2-RBI home run from Amy Manzo. Manzo finished 3-for-3 with three RBI, while Moakley finished with three RBI, a hit, and scored once.
Nayely Delgado and Mycaela Chavez both went 2-for-3, while Alexa Alvarez went 2-for-4 in game one. Trinity Holman and Hailey Johnson each had an RBI.
Center fielder Savannah Moakley displayed her incredible athleticism by robbing Moorpark of a home run with a spectacular catch at the fence, but AVC couldn't stop a big 11-run inning by Moorpark to close out the first contest.
The second game was a different story as Antelope Valley tightened up their defense and more than doubled their scoring from game one. Ariel Nieto had a monster game at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three home runs and eight RBI.
Amy Manzo came up big again in game two with five RBI off three hits, including two home runs. Alexa Alvarez and Trinity Holman each chipped in a hit and an RBI, while Mycaela Chavez had two RBI from one hit.
Nayely Delgado also performed well in game two, scoring three runs and going 2-for-2.
Arianna Arroyo pitched a great game in the circle throwing 50 of 83 pitches for strikes with four strikeouts in five innings.
The Marauders (9-4) will face the Raiders (5-11) again in Moorpark for two games on Saturday before closing out the season with four games against Ventura (8-5) next week.
