AVC Softball landed their seventh victory of the season with a win over Oxnard College.
The Condors jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, scoring an unearned run in the top of the 1st inning. The Marauders bounced back in the bottom of the 2nd when Savannah Moakley hit a sacrifice fly to center scoring Syann Winbush. Jessica Munoz then hit an RBI single to score Ashley Mcirvin.
Up by a run in the bottom of the 3rd, Antelope Valley added to the lead with a 4-run inning. Maritza Arroyo scored when Winbush drew a walk with the bases loaded. Arroyo finished 3-3 with one run scored, while Winbush finished 1-2 with 2 runs scored.
Pricilla Gomez then scored an unearned run after Moakley grounded out to short. Alexa Alvarez added two more insurance runs with a 2-RBI single, scoring Winbush and Nayely Delgado. Alvarez finished the day 4-4 with 2 RBI and is now tied with Moakley for the team lead in RBI with 9. Alexa leads the Marauders in hits with 16 on the season.
The Marauders scored their six runs off 12 hits while managing one error on the day. Briana Garrett had 2 strikeouts in one inning of work, while Maritza Arroyo did the heavy lifting as she faced 23 batters in 6 innings. Arroyo had 2 strikeouts and gave up only one earned run.
The Marauders are now 7-9 and will face Victor Valley on Tuesday at 2:30 pm at AVC.
