WALNUT - It's been a long time since the Marauder softball team felt this way. February 24 and 27 games ago to be exact.
AVC committed four costly errors and was saw its 27-game winning streak snapped at the hands of third-seeded El Camino College, 6-3, Friday night in the Super Regionals at Mt. SAC.
The Marauders will face Cerritos College in the loser's bracket game on Saturday at 5:30pm. Should they win, the Marauders will face the loser of Mt. SAC, which defeated Cerritos on Friday, and El Camino.
"It was awful," AVC head coach Cindy Vargas said. "Way too many errors."
The Marauders jumped out of the gates early by scoring two runs in the top of the first inning following a two-RBI single by Sally Miramontes that scored Valerie Dorantes and Tawnee Hegre.
The score remained 2-0 until the bottom of third inning when El Camino scored three runs to take a 3-2 lead.
Morgan Arndt pitched well and out of the six runs allowed, only three were earned.
