AGUIRRE FINISHES IN TOP 100 AT STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

FRESNO - Sam Aguirre wrapped up his career as a Marauder cross country standout by finishing 95th overall at the State Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno, Saturday afternoon.

"I felt pretty confident today. I had a plan and I stuck to it the first mile, but then it kind of collapsed," Aguirre said. "I'm pretty pleased with my performance. I think I could have gone faster, but I'm satisfied."

Aguirre crossed the line at the 4-mile race with a time of 22:07.

"Because of the (hard) work that our athletes have put in, they were able to have a great race today and bring some pride back here to the Antelope Valley," head coach Josh Villalobos said.
