AGUIRRE STATE BOUND FOR MARAUDER MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

SANTA CLARITA - Sam Aguirre was the lone Marauder cross country runner to advance to the State Championships in Fresno after placing 72nd at the Southern California Championships at Central Park in Santa Clarita.

Aguirre joins Mariah Theologidy and Carolina Gonzalez, on the women's side, as the other AVC runners to qualify for the State Championships at Woodward Park on Nov. 18.

Aguirre finished with a time of 22:43.03 which gave him the qualifying mark. Manuel Fernandez of Mt. SAC won the race in 20:26.85 just ahead of teammate Anthony Alfaro who finished in 20:37.68. Fernandez and Alfaro were the only two runners to break the 21-minute mark.
