Antelope Valley fell behind early as they lost the first two sets 23-25, 23-25. But the Marauders fought their way back into the match, taking the next two sets, 25-20, and 25-23. Shemar Gilmore led the way in the third set with 4 kills, while Julian Green led in the fourth set with 7 kills.
The momentum swayed back and forth in the final set with a few lead changes. Green kept the Marauders close with four more kills before they eventually lost 12-15.
Green finished with a team-high 17 kills. Jonathan Teo had 8 kills, while Gilmore and Dylan Brown each had 7.
Joseph Doerr led AVC with 22 assists, while Cameron Mudgett had 19. Joshua Pinedo had 5 blocks and 4 aces. Teo also had 5 blocks. Dylan Brown had 11 digs while Joshua Chavez contributed 10.
The Marauders will play Moorpark and Santa Barbara on the road before returning home to face El Camino on Friday, March 13th, at 6:00 pm.
