LANCASTER - Last season when the Marauder men's volleyball team played San Diego Mesa, it was handled in three straight sets by the Olympians.
In fact, AVC only won one match the entire season.
But the Marauders got off to an auspicious start, matching its win total all of last season with a convincing opening season victory against SD-Mesa, 25-19, 25-18, 25-18, at Marauder Gymnasium on Newton Chelette Court.
Kevin Moore led the balanced AVC attack with 12 kills, while Matthew Lee finished with six kills and led the Marauders with three blocks and four aces. Sophomore Joey Medina led the team with 23 assists and added five kills.
The Marauders finished with 33 kills as a team and a .321 hitting percentage. Justin Humphrey and Dylan Brown each chipped in with three kills while teammate Anthony Calderon added 11 digs.
