AVC Men's Soccer lost a non-conference home game against Oxnard College 2-1 on Friday. The Condors came in with a 4-0-1 record as they sit atop the Western State-North Conference. They scored first at the 30:45 minute in the first half and then again at the 62:48 mark in the second. AVC bounced back ten minutes later as Victor Jimenez scored with an assist from Guilherme Valenca. Jimenez and Jaret Rojas lead the Marauders on the season with 3 goals each, while Valenca has a team-high 3 assists.
The Condors played to run down the clock while AVC kept the offensive pressure on with several shots. Despite several close calls, the Marauder couldn't find the net to complete the comeback. They finished with 12 shots, 5 on goal. Bryan Rios Martinez recorded 2 saves, while Daniel Pantaleon and Martinez each gave up one score.
The loss gives the Marauders a 3-2-2 record, but they currently lead the Western State-South Conference. Their next match is against Santa Barbara College on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 1 PM at AVC.
