MARAUDERS RECEIVE 10 WSC ALL-CONFERENCE SOCCER AWARDS
Antelope Valley College Men's Soccer team received 10 Conference Honors, including Defensive Player of the Year, four First Team All-Conference, Three Second Team All-Conference, and two Honorable Mention awards.
Midfielder Dylan Gonzalez led the way by receiving Defensive Player of the Year. The 6'0 sophomore from Quartz Hill High School started in 26 games for the Marauders of the course of two years. Gonzalez was also recently selected to the All-South CA State Region Team and is expected to sign a letter of intent to attend California State University, Northridge.
Freshmen Bryan Lima and Fabian Duran, and sophomores Rodrigo Martinez and Christian Gonzalez received 1st Team All-Conference Honors, while sophomores Matt Garcia, Alfredo Chinnery, and Raymond Clark each were selected to 2nd Team All-Conference. Kevin Bougha and Christopher Cortez each received Honorable Mention.
Lima played in a team-high 19 games and led the Marauders with a total of 34 points on the season, including 13 goals and 8 assists. The 5'8 Forward had a team-high 30 shots (20 shots on goal) and was 2-2 on penalty kicks.
Rodrigo Martinez was second in goals with 9, and second in assists with 5. Martinez was 3-3 on penalty kicks and led the team in shots on goal with 21. Duran finished the season with 5 goals and had 4 assists for a total of 14 points.
Christopher Cortez ended with 4 goals and 1 assist, while GK Matt Garcia led the Marauders with 33 saves.
The Marauders finished 2nd in their division with a 7-5-8 record overall.
