BAKERSFIELD - Marauder men's soccer coach felt his team wasn't treated fairly in a 3-2 loss at the hands of Bakersfield College, Friday night.
The Marauders trailed 1-0 following an early goal by The Renegades, but responded with two goals in the first half to take a 2-1 lead. AVC's two goals came from Jose Mojica and Allen Monreal.
Bakersfield tied the score following a red card given to AVC and both teams entered halftime with a 2-2 tie.
Late in the second a questionable call according to Stupar gave the Renegades a penalty kick which was scored and Bakersfield led 3-2. Only a minute later the Marauders were awarded a penalty kick, which Monreal was chosen to do, however, the call was reversed and no penalty kick was awarded.
"In 15 years of coaching college soccer I have never seen a penalty awarded by the head referee and then be taken away without any flag on the play, nor explanation of the overturned call to the coaches in which he made the call himself," Stupar said. "However, I'm proud of my team for their discipline on the field during the chaos which truly was unprofessional. Our focus now will be on offseason training and recruiting to compete for a conference championship in 2017."
