Although they did post their best team score of the season, the Marauders left disappointed with the results of their round at Rancho Vista, their home course. The weather was good, and the course was set up for scoring as most of the league took advantage of the conditions. The team acknowledged that they couldn't afford to dwell on the past and that they'll need to work on consistency in order to finish off the remainder of the season strong.
Ethan Phillips shot a team-best 78 on the day. "Playing at our home course is not like playing other tournaments because your expectations for yourself are a little higher. I had a good day out here Friday, so I felt my game was more than ready for today," said Phillips. "I just told myself my only goal is to stay mentally strong which was tough when I saw things not going my way early on with good shots having bad results. I know I didn't put my best results on paper, but I think I still achieved my mental goal coming into today," he added.
Head coach Brad Hazzard commented, "Ethan has been playing well and with confidence. I know he was frustrated with today's round, but even with some bad breaks, he still managed to post a respectable round and remains in contention for regional play."
The next tournament for the Marauders will be at San Dimas Golf Course, hosted by Citrus College.
