AVC Men's Golf traveled to Ventura for WSC Match #2 at River Ridge Golf Club. The Par 72 Victoria Lakes course is home to the Ventura College Pirates.
The Marauders finished 7th, ahead of Alan Hancock College, while College of the Canyons finished first. Sophomore Ethan Phillips tied for the 6th best score of the day with 3 over par 75. He played even par on the front 9 with 2 birdies. The Saugus High School product from Valencia put in a tremendous amount of work in the offseason, preparing for his sophomore year. " I was pleased to see positive results early on and look forward to him continuing to compete with the league's best players," said head coach Brad Hazard. Freshman Carson Ireland shot an 84, and freshman Michael Dubski scored an 86 on the day.
At Alisal Ranch Golf Course in Santa Barbara, Ethan Phillips led AVC with a 79. Although it was a disappointing day on the greens for Ethan (5-3 putts), he is striking the ball very well, hitting 14 greens in regulation. Jacob Peters also posted a respectable score of 80 on the challenging course. Connor Jazwiecki recorded an 85, and Mikey Dubski shot 86.
"As a team, we've struggled with consistency early on. But the guys are motivated to put in the work in preparation for next week's match at Santa Maria CC," said Hazard.
