Conditions made for high scores as Men's Golf finished fourth with a team score of 431 on Monday. Similar to last week at Valencia CC, players battled high winds all day, which affected scores across the board.
Freshman Jacob Valente was the low medalist for the day with a 77. He continues to lead the way for the Marauders and is now the league leader in scoring average (76) through the first two tournaments. Miguel Cullum tied for 3rd best score on the day with an 80.
"Given the challenging pin positions and brutal conditions, I was impressed with Jacob and Miguel's ability to persevere today." said head coach Brad Hazard. "They were able to minimize their mistakes and capitalize when they had opportunities. To have two of the top three scores on the day is exciting news for our program."
The Marauders were two shots away from getting a top 3 finish, and that has coach Hazard optimistic. "This team definitely has enough talent and depth up and down our line up to challenge the top teams in the conference. I'm looking forward to seeing our 3-5 spot step up and contribute next week." Hazard stated.
The Marauders move on to play at Alisal Ranch Golf Course, Solvang, next Monday.
