VALENCIA - Aaron Volkenant was the low scorer for the Marauder men's golf team shooting an 82, Monday afternoon at the Tournament Players Club in Valencia hosted by College of the Canyons.
"Aaron had a good start with a 36 on the front nine, unfortunately he couldn't keep it up on the back nine," AVC head coach Brad Hazard said.
Volkenant was the only AVC golfer to shoot in double digits. The other four golfers shot 100 or better, including Sire Olmstead who shot a 102 (+30). On March 27, Olmstead led the Marauder team shooting an 86 in a meet hosted by Santa Barbara City College.
"They haven't competed enough in competitive golf tournaments. Many of them are new to the game," said Hazard. "Some of these courses are really tough. I look for them to continue to work on their game and prepare for next year."
The low scorers of the day were by Jae Kim of College of the Canyons and Jake Schultz of Glendale College, both who shot an even par 72. The Marauders finished seventh overall in the team scoring.
