HAND, WEIS MOVE ON TO REGIONALS
BAKERSFIELD - Jonathan Hand and Mike Weis have been the two most consistent players all season for the Marauder golf team.
And they were rewarded for thier solid play.
Both Hand and Weis advanced to the Southern California Regionals on May 10 at Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta.
Hand was solid at Monday's match at Rio Bravo Country Club where he shot a 78 and 76 as the players played 36 holes. Weis played well and shot an 81 and 82.
The Western States Conference will be represented by College of the Canyons, Ventura and Citrus for team play. It will also have several individual representatives, including Hand and Weis. The Marauders finished fifth in conference this season.
"We struggled with consistency all year and weren't able to put it together as a team today," AVC head coach Brad Hazard said. "However, we are excited to see two of our players represent our college and program at regionals. Both guys were within shots of making it last year and worked to get another opportunity at it."
Both players are familiar with the course they will be playing for regionals. Two weeks ago Weis shot his best round of the year at Bear Creek with a 75 and is anxious to return to that course. Hand, however, shot his worst round of the season (95) on the same course.
