GLENDALE - There we no AVC golfers that broke 80 Monday afternoon at the Oakmont Country Club, hosted by Glendale College.
It was one of the more disappointing matches for the Marauders. AVC finished sixth out of seven teams with a total score of 438. Only Bakersfield College (518) which has been in the cellar in every match this season, scored worse than AVC. College of the Canyons (386) finished first. The Cougars have won every match this season but one.
AVC's No. 1 ranked golfer, Jonathan Hand, had his second worse round of the season as he finished with an 87. Earlier this season Hand scored a 90 in a match hosted by College of the Canyons.
Marauders' head coach Brad Hazard said that Hand can drop his two worst scores on the season. Every other match for Hand has been a sub-80., and he is still in contention to make regionals.
"Playing from the tips and fast greens made for a challenging day on the course," Hazard said. "Noah (Roy) played a solid round from tee to green and had some good looks at birdie, but couldn't get the putts to fall. To score low you have to drop putts and not one of our guys were able to do that today."
Noah Roy had the best round of the day for the Marauders with an 85. Mike Weis was right behind him with an 86. Jake Ledbetter of Santa Barbara City College shot a 74, the low round of the day.
