HAND HAS BREAKOUT ROUND, MARAUDER GOLF FINISHES FIFTH IN SAN DIMAS
SAN DIMAS - Jonathan Hand shot his best round of the season +2 (74) helping lead the Marauder golf team to a fifth place finish at the San Dimas Canyon Golf Course hosted by Allan Hancock on Monday afternoon.
Hand finished with five birdies and an eagle and was -1 heading into the final hole but stumbled and finished the hole with a triple bogey. Only three other players shot better than Hand, including Manny Manzone of Santa Barbara City College and Will Barnett of College of the Canyons, who each shot even par (72).
"We had another solid performance from Jon today. He played a very aggressive round," AVC head coach Brad Hazard said. "I know he was disappointed with leaving a few shots out there at the end. He has demonstrated in his last two rounds that he has the ability to compete with the top players in our conference."
COC took home first place, as it has done most of the season with a low score of 374. The Cougars had all six of their players shoot in the 70s. Citrus College (380) finished second, followed by Ventura College (386), Santa Barbara (400) and AVC (413).
Hand was the only Marauder player to score in the 70s. Noah Roy shot the second best round of the day, +8 (80).
