MARAUDER MEN'S GOLF IMPROVES IN SECOND CONFERENCE MATCH
SOLVANG - The Marauder men's golf team improved on its opening conference match by 36 strokes and finished fifth, Monday afternoon, in its second conference match of the season hosted by Santa Barbara City College which was held at Alisal Guest Ranch and Resort.
Mike Weis led the Marauders again with a team-low score of +5 (77). Weis also shot a round of 77 in the conference opening match at Valencia Country Club last week. Jonathan Hand was the Marauders second place finisher with a +6 (78). Hand improved drastically on the 90 he shot last week in Valencia.
"Last week's score of 90 was very uncharacteristic of Jonathan," AVC head coach Brad Hazard said. "It was nice to see him rebound back with a respectable score. As a team we are headed in the right direction. We need to get more consistent and stay away from that one or two bad holes."
Hand was one over par on the front nine but had trouble after that when he triple bogeyed the 10th hole. College of the Canyons' Matt Cheng had the low score of the day shooting a blistering -6 (66).
COC (384) just like it did last week finished first followed by Santa Barbara (376), Citrus (380), Ventura (381) and the Marauders finished fifth (405), jumping Allan Hancock (411), which finished just ahead of AVC in Valencia.
