Marauder Men's Basketball won their second conference contest against the College of the Canyons Cougars 107-71 on Wednesday.
AVC won the first contest 84-78 back in January, but Wednesday's game could prove to be a significant win in their playoff hopes. They secured the victory by shooting 57% from the field while holding the Cougars to 44%. The Marauders made 12 of 25 shots from behind the 3-point line compared to 5 of 19 for Canyons.
Tre Hawkins led all scorers with 23 points. He added 5 rebounds. Xa Landry and Malik Larane had 14 each, with Landry adding 6 assists. Landry leads Antelope Valley in assists on the season with 3.0 per game, while Larane leads the Marauders in scoring on the season with 13.2 points per game.
Omari Mathis came off the bench to add 12 points and a team-high 6 rebounds. Josh Montiano had 11 points, and Ashton Eckert had a team-high 8 assists. Ryan Frazer and Brody Bolotnick had 7 points each.
AVC improved to 6-5 in conference and 12-13 overall. They will play Bakersfield on the road before returning home to host Citrus on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 5:00 pm.
