AVC Men's Basketball improved to 1-1 in conference play with a 98-86 win over LA Valley at home on Saturday.
The Marauders shot 50% from the field to the Monarch's 48% and outrebounded them 41 to 33. AVC was down 42-40 at halftime, but Tre Hawkins provided an offensive spark, scoring 18 second-half points. Hawkins finished with a game-high 24 points, with 5 steals and 5 rebounds. Malachi Jones scored 19 with a game-high 9 rebounds, while Malik Larane had 19 points and 7 rebounds. Larane leads the Marauders in scoring on the season with 13.3 points per game. Xa Landry had a solid night with 17 points and 4 assists.
AVC is 7-9 overall and is on the at Santa Monica and Canyons before returning home to face Bakersfield on January 24 at 5:00 pm.
