AVC Men's Basketball fell 82-72 to Santa Monica College at home on Wednesday. The loss puts the Marauders at 0-3 in conference play and 6-11 overall. AVC shot just under 40% from the field, including 21% from behind the three-point line, while the Corsairs managed over 39% from the field and 32% on three-pointers.
Antelope Valley made the most of their trips to the free-throw line, sinking 11 of their 12 (91%) attempts. Although Santa Monica shot 60% from the stripe, they had 27 attempts.
Evan Scott-Alexander led the Marauders with 15 points and 6 assists. Tre Hawkins followed with 13 points, while Ryan Frazer scored 10 points. James Ponders tied a Corsair for a game-high 9 rebounds to go along with 6 points. Jaquae Franklin had a solid game on the boards with 8 rebounds. Josh Montiano had 9 points on the day, and Kaelin Smith had 6 points and 5 rebounds.
AVC will try to get their first conference win on Saturday against College of the Canyons at 7:00 pm at AVC.
