Marauder Men's Basketball paid honor to sophomores Da'Jour Lewis, Emani Scott, and Virgil Mahoney as they fell to LA Valley 77-76 in their last regular-season game of the year.
The Marauders took a 38-36 lead into the locker room at the halfway mark, led by Lewis, who had 12 points at the break.
In the second half, the Marauders had more field goal attempts, despite LA Valley outrebounding them 20-13. But they couldn't convert, shooting only 18% from behind the arch. Meanwhile, the Monarchs shot 46% from behind the 3-point line. LA Valley also shot better from the free-throw line, going 9-13 to AVC's 2-6. As a result, LA Valley outscored AVC by three points in the second half to seal the 77-76 win.
The three sophomores led the Marauders as Da'Jour Lewis had a game-high 25 points, followed by Emani Scott's 18 points and Virgil Mahoney's 17 points. Joshua Assiff had 9 points, 7 rebounds, and a game-high 6 assists for AVC.
Lewis finishes his two-year AVC career with a 14.5 point per game average, while Scott finished averaging 13.7 points per game throughout one season. Mahoney averaged just under 10 points in two seasons for the Marauders. Lewis also had a team-high 404 points this season for AVC.
The Marauders finished 10-17 overall and 3-10 in conference play this season.
