Marauder Men's Basketball ended a losing streak with an 82-67 win over Bakersfield college. The Renegades arrived at AVC, having won four of their last six contests, including an 80-54 win over the Marauders just two days earlier at Bakersfield. But AVC would find redemption on their home court.
The teams were even at 26-26 after the first half. The second half would be the difference for Antelope Valley as they outpaced Bakersfield by 15 points. The 56-point second half was led by Lucas Bagsik and Joshua Assiff, who both had 14 points in the period. Bagsik finished with a team-high 20 points and 6 assists. The performance was also a season-best for the freshman point guard from Granada Hills. Assiff also had a season-high performance. The 6'7 Forward finished with 19 points and also chipped in 4 rebounds.
Da'Jour Lewis had a double-double with 17 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Virgil Mahoney finished with 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 steals, while Emani Scott had 8 points and 5 assists. Chigozie Achara had 7 points off the bench for the Marauders.
AVC shot just under 47% from the field and made 22 of 32 free-throw attempts. Although Bakersfield had the edge in rebounds, the Marauders only turned the ball over eight times while forcing 22 turnovers for the Renegades.
AVC will travel to Glendale and Citrus before returning home to face LA Valley in their final regular-season game on February 18.
