The Marauders lost a close conference battle with Canyons 85-83 on Saturday. In a tale of two halves, AVC was on fire offensively in the first period, outscoring the Cougars 48-29. Da'Jour Lewis led the way with 15 first-half points. But the fortunes reversed in the second half as the Cougars outscored AVC 47-28, leaving the game tied at the end of regulation. Canyons went on to outscore the Marauders 9-7 in overtime for a two-point win.
Lewis finished with a double-double scoring a team-high 21 points and grabbing a team-high 14 rebounds. Lucas Bagsik had 19 points and a team-high 5 assists. Virgil Mahoney finished with 15 points and 7 rebounds, while Emani Scott had a 17-point performance.
The Marauders fall to 1-6 in conference and 8-12 overall. They will face West LA on Wednesday, 2/2, at home at 5:00 pm.
