VALLEY GLEN - Despite a poor shooting night, the Marauder men's basketball team remained perfect in conference play with a 65-58 victory over LA Valley, Wednesday night on the road.
D'Mauria Jones didn't shoot the ball well, only 3-of-12 shooting, but he finished with a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. He was only five assists away from finishing with a triple-double. Julian Payton and Angelo Solis led the Marauders with 13 points each.
AVC shot only 36 percent from the field overall, including only 7-of-25 from 3-point range. It was also only 10-of-18 from the free throw line.
The game was tied 31-31 at halftime, but the Marauders outscored the Monarchs 34-27 in the second half. AVC trailed 55-52 with less than five minutes remaining in the game but closed the game by scoring 13 of the final 16 points.
