FOOTBALL FIGHTS HARD IN LOSS TO EL CAMINO

AVC Football fell 37-14 to the El Camino Warriors on Saturday. The Marauders showed plenty of enthusiasm as they jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. The defense forced a fumble to set up the first score, a 5-yard touchdown run by Sharmon Rester. On the next El Camino drive, AVC'd defense came through again as Marzeal Smith forced another fumble, which he recovered and returned for a touchdown.
After El Camino scored 13 points in the second quarter, the Marauders were up 14-13 at halftime. AVC's Momentum and optimism faded in the second half as the offense couldn't find the endzone, while the defense gave up 7 points in the third quarter and 17 in the fourth. After being shut out in the first quarter, the Warriors scored 37 unanswered points in the last three quarters to hand the Marauders their 16th straight loss. Sharmon Rester finished 9-17 for 63 yards passing with a touchdown run, while Dakota Yateman-Foster recorded 41 yards rushing on 20 carries.
Cameron Gee recorded a team-high 10 tackles for the defense, while Dorsey Davis and Isiajah Borillo had 9 tackles each. Davis ranks 7th in tackles in the Northern League with 7.3 per game.
The Marauders will next host Allan Hancock College on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 2 p.m. at Brent Carder Marauder Stadium.
