After a scoreless first quarter, Saddleback went up 7-0. Sharmon Rester evened it up with an 18-yard touchdown run. The Bobcats scored two more touchdowns in the second quarter and had a 21-7 lead to end the half.
They continued their momentum in the third quarter, scoring off a blocked punt and a fumble recovery. Down 35-7, AVC's offense showed signs of life when Damario Jackson caught a 6-yard touchdown pass from Rester. Saddleback answered with a TD pass to make it 42-15. The Marauders continued to fight as they capped off a 12-play, 70-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown run from Dakota Yateman-Foster. Damario Jackson then caught his second TD pass of the day, a 33-yard toss from Rester. Jackson finished with a game-high 104 yards receiving and two touchdowns. He leads Antelope Valley in receiving on the season with 17 receptions, 312 yards, and 4 touchdowns.
Rester threw for 212 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. He also rushed 13 times for 50 yards and a touchdown. Despite the positive signs from the offense, the Marauders are still in search of their first win of the season. They will take an 0-3 record to Bakersfield next Saturday to battle the 2-1 Renegades.
