AVC Baseball won all three games of their Western State Conference series against the West LA Wildcats. They narrowly escaped with an 8-7 game 1 win at West LA, followed by two decisive wins... 19-5 at home and 17-1 in the final game on the road.
AVC totaled 44 runs off 46 hits with 4 errors in the series. In game 1, Chuck Lang went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, and Jacob Baxter scored 2 RBI off 1 hit. Braydan Salinas and Jose Vazquez had 2 hits each, while Vazquez, Gavin Klennert, and Cody Turner recorded RBIs. Turner's RBI came courtesy of a home run. Gilberto Beltran recorded 7 strikeouts in 5 innings of work.
Jacob Baxter had 4 RBI off 3 hits in game 2, while Braydan Salinas and Jose Vazquez both went 3-for-6 with 3 RBI. Cody Rollings was efficient at the plate, going 4-for-4 with 2 RBI, and Elias Frainier batted in 2 runs. Cody Turner (2 hits) and Gavin Klennert (3 hits) had an RBI each. Jose Vazquez, Baxter, and Frainier all homered in the contest. Ashton Fitzpatrick did most of the heavy lifting on the mound, striking out 5 batters in just over 6 innings.
The Marauders continued to bring the offensive pressure in Game 3's 17-point route. Cody Rollings, Gavin Klennert, Jose Vazquez, and KB Bell all recorded multiple hits, with Bell and Rollings batting in 2 runs each. Brandon Hennessy homered to bring in 2 runs. Braydan Salinas (3) and Conor Baughman (2) recorded multiple RBI on the day. Cody Turner pitched 7 innings and struck out 11 batters in the win.
The Marauders currently rank 5th in the 3C2A in hitting. They'll take a 25-10 overall record (10-6 in conference) on the road for game 2 of a conference series against Canyons before returning home for game 3 on Saturday, 4/19 at 1:00 pm.
