AVC Baseball won a non-conference game 26-6 at home against Porterville College on Monday.
The Pirates jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the 1st inning. AVC came back to tie it 3-3 in the 2nd. Porterville then took the lead 4-3 in the 3rd, but it would be their last lead of the game as the Marauder offense took charge, scoring in five of the last six innings from that point on. After scoring 3 runs in the 3rd inning, they scored 4 in the 4th, 7 in the 5th, 1 in the 6th, and 8 in the 8th.
AVC totaled 21 hits on the day. Leading the charge was Nathan Duarte, who hit for the cycle, including a 3 RBI home run. Duarte finished 4-for-5 with 6 RBI. Joe Uribe went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI, hitting a home run and scoring 5 times. William Joseph finished 4-for-5 with 2 RBI, and Mason Johnson finished 3-for-5 with an RBI, while Zach Terry recorded 4 RBI and Dom Antinetti recorded 3 RBI. Josh Nuno also brought in 2 runs with 2 hits.
Other Marauders with runs batted in include Colin Hagen, Nate Scott, and Omar Santamaria. Matt Toledo recorded the pitching win with 5 innings of work, while Sam Maudsley and Austin Johnson also pitched 2 innings each.
AVC has a date with West Hills Coalinga and a rematch with Porterville on the road before returning home to face LA Mission in a conference matchup on 4/19.
