Marauder Baseball lost a conference matchup 8-4 against West LA on Monday.
AVC looked good in the early innings as they got on the board first with two runs in the 2nd inning. Robert Gonzales walked to get an RBI first. Tyler Vargas then walked to bring in the second run.
The Cougars would score a run in the 3rd inning, but AVC answered right back in the 4th inning. It was Robert Gonzales again with an RBI double to left field to score Braden Courter. Gonzales finished 2-3 with 2 RBI and a run scored.
West LA scored seven runs over the next five innings, and the Marauders were not able to keep pace.
Nathan Duarte hit a sacrifice fly in the final inning to score a run, but the comeback stalled. AVC finished with 7 hits. Starter Brandon Wilson had two strikeouts in 4 innings of work. Patrick Berry picked up the loss, while Spencer Foley and Zachary Johnson each had one strikeout in an inning apiece.
The Marauders will play a doubleheader (due to a rain-out on Thursday) on Friday at home against the Cougars to complete the season series against West LA. The first game starts at 11:00 am.
