AVC Baseball rallied late, but it wasn't enough as they came up short losing 7-9 to Barstow.
The Marauders jumped out to an early 2-0 lead off a sacrifice fly to center from Andrew Garcia and an RBI single to center by Carlos Martinez. AVC held that lead through three innings. After scoring one in the 3rd, and two in the 4th inning, the Vikings had the lead, and they would not lose that lead throughout.
Wyatt Hendrie, Griffin Hagen, and Andrew Garcia all had RBIs in the 7th inning as the Marauders pulled within one to make the score 5-6. AVC then gave up three runs in the top of the 9th and trailed 5-9 before batting in the bottom of the inning. With Garcia and Hagen on base, Jakob Russell tripled to right field to score two runs and pull the Marauders to with two. That was all they were able to score as they came up short in the 7-9 loss. Jakob Russell and Andrew Garcia both finished with 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Hendrie finished 2-for-5 with 1 RBI while Carlos Martinez ended 2-for-5 with 1 RBI.
The loss brings the Marauders to an 11-18 record (6-9 in Conf.). AVC will face Barstow on Thursday before returning home to face them again on Friday, April 12 at 2:30 pm.
