CULVER CITY - There is joy in Mudville, or for that matter, AVC land.
It's just what the doctor ordered for the Marauder baseball team. Per doctor's orders the 14 hits and six runs, coupled with a solid pitching performance helped cure the illness of an eight-game losing streak.
The Marauders can smile again with a convincing 6-2 victory over West LA College, Tuesday afternoon at West LA College, putting a temporary band-aid on the bleeding the Marauders have suffered.
Prior to Tuesday's victory, AVC's offense has been non-existent. During the eight-game losing slide, the Marauders scored a total of 12 runs in eight games, four of those runs coming in one game in a 6-4 loss to West Hills Coalinga College.
All but one player had at least one hit, six of those with multiple hits. It was just what AVC needed to get out of its funk.
Clayton Rabiej was stellar on the mound as well. Rabiej pitched seven strong innings, scattering right hits and giving up only two runs. He also had five strikeouts.
It was the first time in along time that the Marauders took a comfortable lead. They scored four runs in the top of the first inning including an RBI double by Arturo Sanchez that scored Tyler Pittmon and Travis Tarnoff. AVC had four hits in the inning. John Serrato also had an RBI single in the inning.
Rabiej helped himself out at the plate as he was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Timothy Dodd was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
