LANCASTER - The bleeding will eventually stop.
It has to. It can't keep on going like this.
It's only a matter of time before the Marauder baseball team breaks out of its slump. Unfortunately it didn't happen Thursday afternoon.
Despite an impressive pitching outing from Shawn Hunt, including eight strikeouts, the Marauders lost 3-2 to visiting LA Valley College.
AVC has lost its last 15 of 17 games, 10 in a row at home and are currently on a 7-game losing streak.
It's not that AVC has played poorly by any means, it's the bats which have let them down during the losing streak. During that stretch, the Marauders have only scored 12 runs in seven games.
Hunt only allowed six hits in six innings pitched and gave up two runs in the top of the second inning and one in the top of the sixth.
AVC had its chances to score, especially in the bottom of the seventh inning when it loaded the bases but failed to capitalize. Timothy Dodd said recently that the team is getting guys on base, but they are failing to score.
Already trailing 3-0 entering the bottom of the eighth inning, the Marauders got things rolling and gained a little momentum. The first two batters of the inning, Travis Tarnoff and Tyler Pittmon each drew walks. Clayton Rabiej then doubled scoring both Tarnoff and Pittmon, still with no outs. Rabiej moved to third on a passed ball, but the Marauders failed to move him home and tie the score.
